Nice weather is so liberating! Less layers, less encumbered, more playful. “Play More” was a theme at the recent Wanted Design exposition at the Industry shops. Eye candy of the useful kind, innovations (like a water cooler made of natural terra cotta that is sculptural art and requires no power), and discussions (DMM Talks featuring discussions about materials, business models, and of course “trends”), were a great prelude to ICFF. Yes, we are lucky here in Manhattan to have the world come to us every spring, bringing gifts of design and innovation!
“Play More” works with our Manhattan chapter calendar, too. Upcoming are a great night of tile, tapas and Spanish wine with a CEU, followed by our multi organization Summer Social. The theme this year should be a “hoot” and of course there will be music, food, and prizes, all presented in a design environment where you cannot help but absorb some product knowledge.
Our Manhattan Chapter is committed to creating events that stimulate and enrich our membership. Every July we host a dinner for our governing council. This dinner serves as a thank you to those serving, a strategy meeting for our council going forward and an opportunity to bring in new committee members that want to volunteer their time, to share, learn, and “Play More” in our vast kitchen and bath sandbox.
If you have any interest in joining our group, please email me at toni@tonisabatinostyle.com and we can set up a time to chat. :)
